Focus your power

How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I'm committed to? ~Anthony Robbins

Where your focus goes your power flows. Where are you focusing your power? Are you focused on goals for your future? Are you focused on short-term gains? Does your current focus lead you to where you want to end up down the road? It is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day happenings and lose sight of the direction in which we want our life to take so that we are where we want to be at the "end" of our work life. I have read many books on the subject of focusing your power and thoughts on your goals and future. They all point you in the direction of getting your goals down on paper and doing what will benefit you the most in achieving them. It's hard to save to buy a house and go out and spend all your money on fancy clothes and things you think you want in the now. You have to save and sacrifice satisfying your wants and treat a new house like a need.

I have a vision board that visually reminds me of the goals I am aiming to achieve. I have also created a list of my top 10 goals and put them on my white board in the office so I can see them every morning to remind me of where I am going. To help me even more I have taken a picture of the list with my phone so I can have it with me if I need reminding from time to time. I have put dates on some of them and not on others. I call it my "future facts" board. These are the things that I am going to achieve. I believe that they are going to happen, so I know they will. I am not worrying so much about the "how" I get there as I am focusing on the fact that I am already there, I just have to wait for that date to arrive before I can enjoy my success. I am making sure that my actions every day do not lead me away from my list.

You can call it your list of goals, your future facts, your bucket list, whatever feels right to you, but you have to have a list. If you don't make a list of your goals then what are you aiming to do?

I grew up wanting a job that helps people. My wife and I now own our own health and wellness company. We could have called it a fitness company, but it is so much more than that. Our goal is to help as many people as we can improve their overall health and wellness no matter what that involves. For some it involves exercise and fitness, but for others it may only include a change in diet or just someone to ask for guidance in some area of their life.

So your goals should reflect what you want to achieve in your life for the short and long-term. Write them down or do whatever will help keep them in the forefront of your mind so you can live every day in the pursuit of your dreams.

If you don't know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else. ~Lawrence J. Peter
