Most everyone -- and especially those planning for a wedding -- would say they could "stand to lose a few pounds." What I am suggesting, however, is that you take your total health and wellness status to a new level. A level that will make your life more fulfilling, allow you to get more accomplished, have more energy, better hair, nails, and skin, and will set the tone for your marital bliss by increasing your libido and making health and wellness a cornerstone of your new home. Incorporating the habits of total health and wellness into your life -- and relationship -- prior to your wedding day will put you and your spouse-to-be (and possibly parents-to-be?) on the same page with your approach to nutrition and physical activity and increase harmony and cooperation so that you can help each other stay on track.
Establishing some of the habits I will list below will not only decrease your weight and improve your health, but if you do decide to start a family at some point, these habits that you pass on to your children will help to ensure they do not fall victim to the childhood obesity epidemic that is suffocating us as a nation right now.
Sit down and talk with your fiance and see how many of these you can work together to implement into your lives on a daily basis. And if you need help with making changes, that's what I am here for! I offer a total nutrition, exercise and wellness approach to improving your health and establishing new habits and I love to work with partners as a team!
- Make water your number one beverage of choice
- Alkaline your water and increase your intake of it
- Eat 150 to 300-calorie meals, 5 to 6 times per day
- Eat your foods in their natural state
- Prepackage your foods after grocery shopping for portion control
- Establish the habit of daily exercise
- Take up a couples' sport or a hobby engaging in physical activity (besides THAT!)
- Read personal development books (preferably together)
- Limit eating out at restaurants
- Develop a food budget and shop together
The one thing I would stress, however, is that since this is not a "get thin quick" type of program, that you plan in advance and -- depending on your health, fitness or weight loss goals -- you allow a good 2 to 3 months prior to the big day to begin the process of establishing the habits that will result in you reaching those goals. The bottom line, start today! It's never too early -- or too late -- to get your health to its peak and it will make your wedding planning, stress management, your wedding day and honeymoon and all of your days together thereafter immeasurably more enjoyable!
